Another game that blurs the boundaries of what constitutes a roguelike is Privateer: Ascii Sector. Ascii Sector is a ascii art remake of the 1993 space sim/rpg Wing Commander: Privateer using ascii art assets and animation. Unlike the original, it's only in two dimensions, but otherwise it looks incredible.
